Oil-free pumps use self-lubricating polymer rings instead of an oil bath. That means no oil mist in the output air, no annual oil change, and instant cold-weather starts — but typically a shorter pump lifespan than equivalent oil-lubricated compressors.
Look for direct-drive oil-free models for portability (6–24L tanks) or belt-drive oil-free for higher duty cycles in workshops. Expect 1.5–6 CFM depending on motor size.
