About Air Compressors for Plasma Cutters
Most 30–40A plasma cutters need 4–6 CFM at 60–80 PSI. 60A+ machines demand 7–12 CFM. Always run the compressor 25% above the plasma's spec for headroom.
Clean dry air is non-negotiable — water or oil in the air destroys plasma torch consumables fast. Use an inline moisture trap, an oil filter and a refrigerated dryer if you'll cut all day.
