JCB-18PKIT-1 (£169.99): the budget door

Both core tools - the compact combi we rated 4.5/5, plus the 230Nm impact driver - for the price of the drill kit alone. The compromise is the pair of 2.0Ah batteries: fine for drilling and driving in bursts (and the fast charger keeps the swap cycle short), light on runtime for long fixing sessions, and undersized for hungrier tools you might add later. The same two tools as PKIT-1, upgraded to 5.0Ah batteries, a £50 step that's honestly priced against battery costs. The problem sits £20 above it: PKIT-3 keeps everything and swaps the compact drill for the 160Nm flagship. Unless you specifically prefer the lighter 75Nm drill and want big batteries - a legitimate combination for overhead-heavy trades like electricians - the range's own pricing argues you past this kit.

JCB-18PKIT-3 (£239.99): the one to buy ⭐

The full-strength system: 160Nm flagship combi, 230Nm impact driver, two 5.0Ah packs, fast charger, case. The 160Nm drill covers the heavy-auger, big-hole-saw, timber-frame work the compact can't chase, the driver handles every fixing below wrench territory, and the big batteries are ready for whatever bare tool joins the platform next. At £70 over PKIT-1 you get roughly double the drilling muscle and 2.5× the battery capacity, the best pound-for-pound configuration in the range and our default recommendation for trade buyers.

JCB-18PKIT-4 (£299.99): the metal-and-masonry kit

A different animal: compact drill plus the 115mm angle grinder, with the 5.0Ah packs a grinder genuinely requires (grinders devour amp-hours-  this kit couldn't honestly exist with 2.0Ah cells). The soft bag replaces the case for the same practical reason every grinder owner knows. For landscapers cutting slabs and rebar, metalworkers and renovation trades, this is the right pairing; everyone else gets more daily value from PKIT-3 and can add the grinder bare later. Same money: two tools with small batteries, or one tool with big ones. If your plan is to add bare Pro tools over time — driver now, wrench at MOT season, grinder next spring - the big-battery foundation wins, because every future bare tool inherits proper runtime.
