About Robotic Lawn Mowers
Robotic mowers come in two camps: traditional boundary-wire mowers (Husqvarna Automower, Worx Landroid, Bosch Indego) and wire-free GPS/RTK robots (EcoFlow Blade, Mammotion Luba, Husqvarna NERA EPOS). Wire-free models cost more but skip the messy install.
Sizing is straightforward: pick a model rated for at least 20% more than your actual lawn area. Robotic mowers handle slopes of 25–45% depending on the model, and most are fully weather-proof — they happily mow through light rain.
Run-time and battery costs are minimal — a typical robot uses 60–80 kWh of electricity per year, around £20 on a UK tariff. The mulch-as-you-go approach feeds the lawn naturally and eliminates grass disposal completely.
