    About Petrol Lawn Mowers

Petrol mowers come in three main flavours: push, self-propelled and ride-on. Push petrol mowers from Mountfield, Webb and Honda give you a 40–46 cm deck for around £200–£400 — perfect for lawns up to 500 m².

Self-propelled petrol mowers drive themselves, which makes a big difference on slopes or anything over about 700 m². Look for variable speed, electric start and a 50+ litre grass box on larger decks.

Honda GCV, Briggs & Stratton DOV and Kawasaki FJ engines dominate the UK market. Honda is the quietest and cleanest-starting; Briggs is the cheapest to maintain; Kawasaki delivers commercial-grade torque.
